Fabric Requirements for Making a Jubilant Quilt

The Jubilant pattern is a perfect pattern for showing off your prized fat quarters, or even combining lots of scraps from the scrap bins! There’s even a 2-color option as well you could try out by selecting the “Triangles” option instead of the “Scrappy Triangles” option below.

Feel free to make the triangles as scrappy as you would like!

Note that if you are making this quilt using AccuQuilt, you will need a little extra fabric for the background or non-scrappy Triangles. The exact AccuQuilt fabric requirements are written inside the complete quilt pattern.

Cutting Jubilant Rectangles

The Jubilant pattern includes templates you can use for the triangle shapes, however it is a bit easier if you use acrylic rulers or an AccuQuilt Machine to cut out your triangles instead.

Compatible Quilting Rulers for Jubilant

My favorite ruler for making the Jubilant HRT blocks is this one by Planted Seed Designs. Alternatively, Creative grids makes a larger size option that is also very nice – use Creative Grids perfect Rectangle ruler CGRTMT3! This one makes HRTs up to 6.5″ and the Creative Grids is a bit larger and goes up to 9.5″. You can also get the Creative Grids ruler from Fat Quarter Shop through this affiliate link.

The rulers from Planted Seed Designs come as a set to make Triangle in a Square blocks, which is another super fun block – it includes both the center triangle shape as well as the background shape too. The ones from Creative Grids are sold separately, so you could just buy the outside triangle shape for your HRTs for the Jubilant pattern.

Use your AccuQuilt to make the Jubilant Quilt Pattern

The main portion of all my quilt patterns is written so it can be cut with a rotary cutter & quilting rulers, however I have a special treat in the Jubilant Pattern. There are a couple extra pages just for you AccuQuilt-lovers out there! I personally have been using an AccuQuilt for years and try to use it as often as I can.

The Jubilant Quilt Pattern is a great opportunity to use AccuQuilt for precise cutting on lots of little pieces!

90% Faster Than Rotary Cutters

These articles and videos are a great place to start to learn more about AccuQuilt:

For making my own Jubilant quilts, I like to use a mix of AccuQuilt and my Stripology ruler to cut out the pieces. The Jubilant Quilt Pattern includes the detailed instructions for the exact AccuQuilt die that you will need.

Jubilant Quilt Tutorials

One special new block taught in the Jubilant quilt pattern is a simple Half Rectangle Triangle (HRT). The HRT used in this design is a 2:1 ratio and made using a simple 1-at-a-time construction technique, which I love because it doesn’t involve tricky trimming after sewing! If you want to learn more about making your HRTs, check back soon! I am working on a complete tutorial for you!

Of course the Jubilant pattern itself shows the step-by-step instructions, but sometimes a video is helpful too. I am working to make a video to include here soon 🙂
