Ruby Star Society Limelight Quilt
Let me tell you about the new Fat Quarter friendly quilt pattern – the modern and bold Limelight Quilt! I made this vibrant quilt using Fat Quarters from the brand new fabric collection: Backyard by Sarah Watts for Ruby Star Society.
The new modern quilt pattern includes 3 sizes: Baby, Throw, and Bed sizes. You can get the quilt pattern in my shop as a PDF Download or printed paper booklet version.

Fabrics used in this Pre-cut friendly Quilt
Quilting with pre-cuts and fabric bundles is always so much fun because the fabrics always coordinate perfectly! Additionally, pre-cut fabric collections take away all the fear of fabric picking process.
All of the fabrics in this quilt top and binding are from the Backyard fabric collection by Sarah Watts, which will be available in quilt shops soon! I used Fat Quarters from this collection for the main fabrics.
The quilt backing is a gorgeous, bright Speckled turquoise wide back, also from Ruby Star Society.
Quilting on the Long Arm Machine
This throw size quilt was quilted on a long arm by my amazing quilter @janejustsew! She really took advantage of the white space and did custom quilting to make the pattern really pop!
Quilting Skills in this Quilt Pattern
Another of my favorite things about the Limelight quilt pattern is how it features some basic traditional shapes and techniques in a fresh, modern way! The bold design definitely packs a punch, but it’s actually fairly simple to make!
You’ll learn and practice two key quilt blocks: 4-at-a-time Flying Geese and Simple Scrappy Hourglass blocks. Find the step-by-step instructions in the pattern for both of these shapes!
Limelight Quilt Pattern Sizes
As I’ve mentioned before, the Limelight quilt pattern includes 3 sizes! It is block-based so you could also make your own size if you wanted to customize it. The dimensions for each size are as follows:
- Baby: 40″ x 40″
- Throw: 72″ x 72″
- Bed: 88″ x 88″
