Triangular Quilt Sizes

The Triangular quilt pattern comes in 4 different sizes: wall hanging, baby, throw, and bed size. All the quilt blocks are the same size, so it’s easy to make it your own if you want a size not listed in the pattern. Simply make the main Half Square Triangle quilt blocks and then piece them together to make your desired size or shape.

Quilting Fabrics for the Triangular Quilt

This modern triangular quilt pattern is great for fat quarters or even scraps too! You’ll see some examples below using Fat Quarters and scraps, and also some other examples using yardage. The pattern is specifically written using Fat Quarters but it is easy to switch it up to make it scrap friendly too.

Triangular Quilt Pattern Skill Level

The pattern does involve some pretty small pieces and requires accurate and precise piecing, so for that reason I’ve determined to label it as an “intermediate” level pattern. It’s really good for like maybe a 3rd or 4th quilt once you have some of the basics down. If you want a pattern that’s a little bit easier and quicker, Connector or Solitaire are good options for you!

The Triangular Quilt Pattern pattern focuses in on the Half Square Triangle! If you’ve never tried making Half Square Triangles using the 4-at-a-time method, check out this blog post or watch this video:

The Triangular Quilt pattern would not be half as great as it is without my amazing pattern testers! Here are some of their awesome versions of the quilt top:

Stephanie’s version (@octoberinthewild) brings all the drama and definitely makes me consider using darker background fabrics!

Laura @sharingseams made some wall hanging magic using a few scraps of Cotton+Steel basics!

I love this 2-color Wall Hanging by Ashlee @crinklyquilts! The gold binding just really pops, and I love how it shows a print as the background fabric!
